Grey itself is not the problem. It is how it is used. When stripped of warmth and depth it loses its purpose. When pushed too blue or too pale it drains a space rather than grounding it.
There is still room for grey. It simply needs intention.
Rethinking the Neutral
Ico Traders' Carbon hue is a response to that shift.
Not a trend driven grey. Not a filler colour. A deeper neutral, with weight and texture.
Carbon sits close to charcoal. It absorbs light instead of reflecting it harshly and in doing so, it creates calm and contrast without feeling heavy.
It allows colour to stand forward. Earthy reds feel richer. Olive greens feel grounded. Natural timber feels warmer. Even soft linens and whites gain depth when placed beside it.
Carbon is not designed to dominate a space. It is designed to anchor it.
Inspired by the Landscape
Like all Ico Traders colourways Carbon is drawn from the New Zealand environment.
Think of the shadowed faces of the Southern Alps at dusk. The dark volcanic stone along coastal edges. The mineral tones found in riverbeds and exposed rock. These are not cold greys. They are layered. Subtle. Deep.
Carbon reflects that same quiet strength.
It is familiar because it belongs to the land around us.
Designed for Simplicity and Function
Our wire furniture has always been simple and multipurpose. Colour is never an afterthought. It is considered alongside form and function.
Carbon is available across selected pieces including the Benmore Bench, Piha Lounger and Beaumont Stool. The structure remains light and functional. The colour adds depth and presence.
Used alone a Carbon piece becomes a strong architectural line within a room. Paired with timber planting or textiles it becomes part of a layered composition.
A Neutral With Intention
Trends come and go. Cool greys had their time.
Carbon is about longevity. A neutral that feels current without chasing fashion. A colour that supports rather than competes.
Grounded. Textured. Considered.
Carbon is now available online.
