Pressed tin panels are metal sheets stamped with a raised, repeating pattern. They first appeared in New Zealand and Australian homes in the early twentieth century, mostly on ceilings and decorative walls. Our range reproduces several of those original patterns. It also includes newer designs.
Each panel starts as mill grade aluminium, which won't rust. As a result, the whole range works outside as well as in. For extra strength, or for highly exposed outdoor cladding, there's also a galvanised steel option.
After pressing, each panel gets an acid etch. That way it's ready to paint or powder coat in whatever colour suits your home.
To install, cut the panels to size with an angle grinder. Then fix them in place with adhesive, nails or rivets. Full installation guides come with every order.
A pattern like Original or Clover behind the stove or sink gives a kitchen real period character. Once powder coated, the surface also wipes clean easily.
Panels make a good alternative to tiles on a feature wall or around a shower recess. For any high use or wet area, we recommend powder coating rather than paint alone.
Matching borders and cornice strips let you finish a ceiling edge to edge, rather than just covering the centre. Cornice patterns include Piano, Grate and Ella May.
Because the panels are aluminium, they won't rust outside. That makes them a natural fit for exterior cladding, gable ends, fences and privacy screens. They also suit garden features and letterboxes. For anything staying outside long term, powder coat it. For larger or more exposed cladding jobs, the galvanised option is the better choice.
Patterns like Snowflake, Shield , Fishscale & Brick hold their own as a standalone feature. Try one in a hallway or behind a bar. In a commercial fit out, they also make a strong counter front.
Most panels measure about 922mm x 1837mm, or close to 3ft x 6ft. However, sizing and pattern repeat vary by design.
Stock items generally ship faster. Some designs are special order, though, with a longer lead time. So check the specific panel page before you plan around a delivery date. We quote delivery in tiers, based on how many panels you order.
