The Difference Is In The Detail
I believe that the hardest thing to achieve with a new build, is avoiding the 'showhome' look, sucking the soul out of everything.
Walking into Beks new home, we instantly knew that the easy warm, calm & relaxed feeling of her home wasn't a lucky mistake, but an intentional creation, built on layers of texture, tones & timber choices.
The Business
It wasn't until we got chatting about her business, that I put 2 & 2 together that this friend of Bridgett's was THE @inhouse_style that I follow with dedication on instagram. (Beks - like me, is often behind the camera & not in front). If you are new to her instagram, it is well worth the discovery!!
Beks started Inhouse Style in 2015, creating inviting spaces for clients wanting to sell their homes, both private clients and developers. She works with photographers as a product stylist & I could immediately tell from the way that she styles her own home, that she has 'the touch'.
Homestaging/styling is a lot about lugging furniture & physical work & Beks is there for all that, but her favourite part is once everyone else is left, so that she can take the time to style.
A Home to Live in
Her home is a product of the 2012 earthquakes, an inspection of the floors revelled more that was repairable & the old house was deemed a rebuild.
Working with Barry Connor, the build took 16 months & now that its finished, landscaping has become her new obsession.
Her lifestyle and business is built around her creativity & her family. Running her business from home means that she can be there for the boys - not missing out on sports - AND still be the style guru that she is.
Buy less, use it well, make it last. It’s our Ico Traders line, but you can tell it’s hers too.
Thanks Beks, for your generosity in lending us your beautiful home xx
